:ABS), today announced the appointment of Dave Simonson David Arnold Simonson (born May 2, 1952 in Austin, Minnesota) was a former professional American football player who played in 4 NFL seasons from 1974-1977 for the 5 different teams. , 53, as president of Albertson's Southern California Southern California, also colloquially known as SoCal, is the southern portion of the U.S. state of California. Centered on the cities of Los Angeles and San Diego, Southern California is home to nearly 24 million people and is the nation's second most populated region,  Region.

It was formed in 1917 when Acme Markets merged with four other Philadelphia area grocery chains into American Stores. American Stores would grow to 1,700 stores in 40 states with $15 billion in sales.  Co. Simonson relocated to Boise, in 1996, as senior vice president and regional manager. He was named to his current position in January 1999.

This year, the Community Partners Card is expected to raise more than $12 million nationally.

Throughout the year 2000, Albertson's will donate more than 10 million pounds of food to homeless shelters Homeless shelters are temporary residences for homeless people. Usually located in urban neighborhoods, they are similar to emergency shelters. The primary difference is that homeless shelters are usually open to anyone, without regard to the reason for need.  and food banks throughout California and Nevada. The company is also committed to improving the well-being of the customers it serves through a variety of in-store programs including an annual flu shot program, diabetes testing and education, bone-density testing and other health screening programs available in its Albertson's and Sav-on pharmacies.

Albertson's Southern California Region operates 311 stores and has headquarters in Buena Park. The company operates more than 500 stores in the state and is the largest food retailer in California.
