Dave Sheil named vice president, personnel, for Cooper.


HOUSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--April 30, 1996--David R. Sheil, 39, has been named Vice President, Personnel, for Cooper Industries Cooper Industries NYSE: CBE is one of the oldest large companies in the United States, having been founded in 1833 as a partnership in Mount Vernon, Ohio.

Incorporated in Ohio as The C. & G.
, Inc. (NYSE-CBE). Sheil will be responsible for personnel administration, training, corporate recruiting, management development and planning administration, employee benefits and corporate travel.

Sheil joined Cooper in March 1986 as Labor Counsel in human resources The fancy word for "people." The human resources department within an organization, years ago known as the "personnel department," manages the administrative aspects of the employees. . He has held several division and corporate human resources positions for Cooper Industries, serving most recently as Director, Human Resources at Cooper's corporate headquarters in Houston. Prior to joining Cooper, he spent five years as a labor attorney for Texaco, Inc.
