Datron Receives Final Acceptance for Korea Aerospace Research Institute Remote Sensing Ground Station.Business Editors SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sept. 13, 2000 Fourth Ground Station Worldwide Incorporating Datron's Open 2000 System Datron/Transco Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary A subsidiary whose parent company owns 100% of its common stock. Notes: In other words, the parent company owns the company outright and there are no minority owners. of Datron Systems Incorporated (Nasdaq:DTSI DTSI Defense Trade Security Initiative DTSI Digital Twin Spark Ignition DTSI Datron/Transco Systems Incorporated DTSI DataTel Solutions, Inc. (San Antonio, Texas) ), today announced that it has received final acceptance for the KOMPSAT-I satellite Receiving and Processing Station (KRPS KRPS Kentucky Regional Paranormal Society ) by the Korea Aerospace Research Institute The Korea Aerospace Research Institute (KARI) is the aeronautics and space agency of South Korea. Its main laboratories are located in Daejeon, in the Daedeok Science Town. Current projects include the KSLV launcher. Past projects include the 1999 Arirang satellite. (KARI KARI Kenya Agricultural Research Institute KARI Korea Aerospace Research Institute KARI Kawanda Agricultural Research Institute (Uganda) ). The project included a Datron 13-meter antenna and Datron's Open 2000(R) Ground Station system hardware and software for mission planning, data acquisition and recording, image archive and catalogue, radiometric and geometric imagery correction, and product output. Datron delivered an integrated control and processing system designed to meet the KARI team's unique requirements. The KOMPSAT-I satellite's payload instrumentation includes two different types of sensors -- a high-resolution panchromatic pan·chro·mat·ic adj. Sensitive to all colors: panchromatic film. pan·chro ma·tism n. Electro-Optical Camera (EOC) and a lower-resolution Ocean Scanning Multispectral Imager (OSMI OSMI Obsolete and Slow Moving Inventory ). Each sensor is designed to provide a particular type of imagery or movement for the various research projects being conducted by KARI. Datron designed and developed all of the software programs that perform the radiometric, optometric, blurring correction, and calibration control functions required to produce high-quality imagery in standard product formats. The ground station's flexibility and performance were enhanced through the easy integration of customized and third-party value-added processing software into the Open 2000 system. The sensor-specific software modules were integrated to process, store and distribute the imagery data, and PCI's Geomatics OrthoEngine(TM) software was integrated for generating final photographic maps of any part of the world. The current Open 2000 installation in the KRPS ground station also offers the capacity to support additional and new-generation satellites. "The Datron team consistently devised innovative solutions to complex problems encountered during this project," said Dr. Eunsup Sim of KARI. "For example, the type of sensors on the KOMPSAT-I had never been used before. Once data became operationally available, Datron's engineers were able to develop additional software-based radiometric correction techniques to further enhance image quality." "We enjoyed being a part of this important project," said William Benton, project systems engineer for Datron. "The interesting challenges we encountered gave Datron another opportunity to demonstrate to the remote sensing community our ability to deliver a cost-effective, reliable and flexible ground station control system." The KRPS facility is Datron's fourth complete ground station, which includes integration of the Open 2000 system software, incorporation of the ground station hardware, and the actual installation. Datron has installed similar ground stations at the National University of Singapore The National University of Singapore (Abbreviation: NUS) is Singapore's oldest university. It is the largest university in the country in terms of student enrollment and curriculum offered. , Istanbul Technical University History Considered as the world's second institution of higher learning specifically dedicated to engineering education, Istanbul Technical University (ITU) has a long and distinguished history which began in 1773. in Turkey, and the Hiroshima Institute of Technology Hiroshima Institute of Technology (広島工業大学 in Japan.
