:DWTI DWTI Dienst voor Wetenschappelijke en Technische Informatie (Belgium) ) today unveils key elements of its expanded Internet strategy, including the immediate shipment of its new NetAnswer products and services targeted at Dataware s key customers -- commercial publishers, corporations, government agencies, educational institutions, and professional firms.

"We have designed this strategy with our core information-providing customers in mind," states Kurt Mueller, chairman and chief executive officer of Dataware Technologies. "The explosive growth of the Internet has created significant new opportunities for these customers to make and save money. To help our customers respond to these opportunities, we are implementing an expanded Internet strategy."

"Dataware's Internet strategy consists of six key elements, all consistent with our broader mission to be a world leader in software and services for electronic publishers," continues Mueller.

1. Offer a broad and growing set of powerful software products and tailored services to enable electronic publishers to manage and distribute their information anywhere in the world, through any viable electronic media, including the Internet, CD-ROM CD-ROM: see compact disc.

, online services, LANs, WANs, and any combinations of these media. In support of this strategic objective, we are today announcing immediate availability of our new NetAnswer products and services for commercial Internet publishing (see attached NetAnswer press release).

2. Provide continued support for industry standards, both formal and de facto. We are today announcing support in our NetAnswer products for a wide range of important Internet-related standards, including HTTP HTTP

The products are compatible with browsers such as Netscape and Spyglass, with free servers such as NCSA (1) (National Center for Supercomputing Applications, Urbana-Champaign, IL, www.ncsa.uiuc.edu) A high-performance computing facility located at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  and CERN CERN or European Organization for Nuclear Research, nuclear and particle physics research center straddling the French-Swiss border W of Geneva, Switzerland. , and with secure servers such as Netscape Commerce Server and Open Market Secure Web Server (1) A server on the Web that supports one or more of the major security protocols such as SSL, SHTTP and PCT. This means that order form data from your browser is encrypted before being sent (uploaded) to the Web site, making it extremely difficult for a third party to decipher .

3. Offer solutions which will support our customers mixed media strategies, and which will integrate into their existing computing environments. For example, NetAnswer can support mixed media delivery, such as combining Internet and CD-ROM in various ways to meet the diverse needs of customers. NetAnswer runs on a wide range of UNIX UNIX

and Microsoft NT server options, and supports standard or custom browsers on multiple platforms (including Windows, Windows 95, Macintosh, and Motif).

4. Work with other leading industry organizations in order to offer a more complete solution to meet customer needs or to capitalize on joint marketing opportunities. For example, in creating the new NetAnswer Internet Hosting Service An Internet hosting service is a service that runs Internet servers, allowing organizations and individuals to serve content to the Internet. There are various levels of service and various kinds of services offered.

A common kind of hosting is web hosting.
, Dataware has established relationships with equipment suppliers and network services providers. Other potential Internet partners include vendors of browser software, server software, security software and hardware, rating and profiling software and services, multimedia software, creative services, commerce software and services, directory services, and more.

5. Serve customers through multiple channels of distribution, including direct sales to our existing and future information-providing customers, OEM sales to selected customers who require imbedded Dataware software components, and reseller arrangements for certain geographic and vertical market segments.

6. Increase our rate of investment in the Internet marketplace, including expanded product development, sales and marketing, and administrative investments. While we anticipate that the short term impact of these investments may have a negative impact on earnings, we believe that the potential returns can be very substantial in the long run, both financially and in terms of customer satisfaction.
