"Building on our relationship with Dataware made sense," explains Russell Seeker, assistant vice president at Dun & Bradstreet Information Services. "We'd had major success in developing CD-ROM titles, and leveraging the Dataware software has enabled us to go a step further in meeting the needs of this demanding application. Our D-U-N-S data resides at data centers around the world, which is where the data input and updating is carried out. But through the advanced indexing capabilities of Dataware's CD Author, Dun & Bradstreet is able to create highly compressed files with indexes on the HP middle-tier for rapid searching.

Secker continues, "The big advantage of the Dataware search engine is that now we are in a position to introduce new products by cutting and slicing our databases in ways that best serve our customers' needs. The service has initially been offered to select U.S. Government agencies, some of the largest users of search and retrieval applications, but will target the full variety of businesses requiring comprehensive global research capabilities. The system is also available to more than 36 Dun & Bradstreet offices worldwide, exploiting Dun & Bradstreet's position as a truly global information provider."
