CAMPBELL, Calif. -- "Vibration is easy when it's properly taught," said Derek Norfield, 30-year veteran of machine vibration analysis and balancing and Datastick Systems, Inc., Director of Applications, who announced today that Datastick's popular two-day Vibration Training Seminar will be held in Las Vegas in September and in Houston in November of 2007.

The seminar covers the basics of machine vibration and vibration analysis and best practices in collecting and reporting vibration data, as well as the operation of Datastick[R] VSA VSA (in New Zealand) Voluntary Service Abroad [TM]-series Vibration Spectrum Analyzers A hardware device or software used to examine the frequency and power components of a signal. It provides more information than an oscilloscope, because it can display the signals over a range of frequencies. . It is designed for anyone interested in getting off to a good start using vibration analysis for predictive maintenance Predictive maintenance (PdM) techniques help determine the condition of in-service equipment in order to predict when maintenance should be performed. This approach offers cost savings over routine or time-based preventive maintenance because tasks are performed only when  and for users of VSA analyzers.

Seminars will be held in the following locations and dates:

Las Vegas, Nevada -- September 14 and 15, 2007 - following PdM-2007, the Predictive Maintenance Technology Conference and Expo

"This seminar is designed for newcomers to the subject of machine vibration," said Mr. Norfield. "Datastick's Vibration Spectrum Analyzers are reasonably priced and simple to operate, and this attracts people from companies that have wanted to have vibration analysis as part of a predictive maintenance program, but have been put off by cost and complexity. Now that we've made it possible for them to afford it, the next question they ask is, 'How do I do it?' The seminar is where we say, 'Here's how.' We keep things uncomplicated and easy to understand, and we provide lots of hands-on experience."

A small sample of topics covered in the seminar include

* The simple physics of vibration

* The causes of vibration in rotating ro·tate
