Datascan Technologies Changes Hands, Positioned for Growth Surge; Abbas Sadriwalla Named New Chairman and CEO.

HOUSTON -- Datascan Technologies Inc., a pioneer in WLAN solutions and a leader in mobile enterprise solutions, has been sold to a group of investors led by Abbas Sadriwalla, Chairman and CEO of Fort Lauderdale based V Link Solutions, Inc. Following the sale, Sadriwalla was named Chairman of the board and CEO of Datascan Technologies, and John Curl, Datascan's incumbent President, was reappointed to that position.

Privately held Datascan was incorporated in 1988 to tap opportunities in the enterprise market segment for wireless, mobile and bar code based end-to-end business solutions. Typically, these solutions include designing and building large WLAN infrastructure and deploying a range of mobile bar code terminals over this WLAN network to help tag and track inventory, and facilitate transactions where required. In the early years, Datascan operated primarily as a systems integrator, deploying a range of third party hardware and software technologies to build complete enterprise inventory tracking and management solutions. However, because many of these third party solutions did not offer the flexibility and robustness that many of its customers demanded, during the early 1990s, Datascan diversified into developing its own software applications for inventory management. Today, it boasts a full suite of proprietary Inventory Management software, including a Point of Issue Software called Stock N Roll, an Asset Management Software called SAMS, an Asset Tracking Software called ATS, a Floor Plan Audit Software called FASTrak, and a Money Delivery Tracking Software called BagTrak. Datascan also offers custom application development services. Since 2003, Datascan has added third party RFID based inventory management solutions for retail, transport and manufacturing verticals.
