:DRAM), a leading provider of server and workstation memory, today announced that three memory products submitted to AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc., Sunnyvale, CA, www.amd.com) A major manufacturer of semiconductor devices including x86-compatible CPUs, embedded processors, flash memories, programmable logic devices and networking chips.  for testing have been qualified for use with AMD Opteron processors and now appear on the AMD web-based tested memory listing.

Registered ECC (1) (Error-Correcting Code) A type of memory that corrects errors on the fly. See ECC memory.

(2) (Elliptic Curve Cryptography) A public key cryptography method that provides fast decryption and digital signature processing.
PC2700 DDR (Double Data Rate) Refers to an SDRAM memory chip that increases performance by doubling the effective data rate of the frontside bus. For more details, see SDRAM.

333 modules in capacities of 2GB, 1GB and 512MB have been tested and validated. All three Dataram modules support AMD's Chipkill advanced error detection and correction (algorithm, storage) error detection and correction - (EDAC, or "error checking and correction", ECC) A collection of methods to detect errors in transmitted or stored data and to correct them. This is done in many ways, all of them involving some form of coding.  technology. Chipkill enhances data integrity for enterprise mission critical applications where data accuracy is paramount. Many approved memory modules are designed to run in standard ECC mode and do not support the Chipkill feature.

Eliminating the front side bus and embedding the memory controller within the processor dramatically increase the effective memory bandwidth of Opteron, making it ideally suited for the most demanding and complex applications requiring large amounts of memory.

Michael Hill, Director of OEM (Original Equipment Manufacturer) The rebranding of equipment and selling it. The term initially referred to the company that made the products (the "original" manufacturer), but eventually became widely used to refer to the organization that buys the products and  Programs stated, "With more system vendors adopting the Opteron processor into their server and workstation products, Dataram's high-end memory solutions provide much demanded memory in a growing market segment."
