Dataproducts announces ISO 9001 certification for Georgia manufacturing site.

SIMI VALLEY, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 12, 1996--Dataproducts Corp., Americas Imaging Supplies Division (AISD), Monday reported the official ISO 9001 certification of quality systems for their Norcross, Ga., manufacturing facility, as registered by the National Safety Association of Ireland.

In compliance with the strictest of four sets of standards under the international quality requirements of ISO 9000, the Norcross plant has achieved the only standard that stipulates regular monitoring and auditing of all quality aspects from design and engineering through manufacturing and distribution, including full documentation of and executive management commitment to the quality system. ISO 9001 also incorporates a stringent and mandatory corrective action system that factors into every stage of daily operations.

In September 1994, AISD's Simi Valley manufacturing headquarters attained ISO 9001 certification for its quality system, after which Dataproducts immediately began preparations to register the Norcross site. Achieving ISO 9001 certification at Norcross marks completion of the second of three major phases in AISD's comprehensive plan to register all AISD manufacturing sites for ISO certification.

"Looking forward, our next milestone will be achieved when the Mexicali, Mexico, site attains ISO 9002 certification (same level of quality system as the 9001 standard for a manufacturing plant that does not participate in product design) by the end of next year," said Bill Barclay, general manager and senior vice president of AISD.

"Achievement of these incremental steps toward a global standard of quality represents our division's commitment and dedication to the highest level of quality and to continued quality improvement throughout all aspects of our business."

The Norcross and Simi Valley facilities are now officially equals in the application of their quality systems. All Dataproducts imaging supplies from across the United States will be offered under the ISO 9001 worldwide quality standard.
