Dataprobe's iBootBar Powers up the United States Senate.

ALLENDALE, N.J. -- Dataprobe, a leading manufacturer of innovative technology solutions for networking systems management, announced today that Boulder, Colorado-based K2 Audio has deployed the iBootBar in the Senate Hearing Room Audio Network it designed for the United States Senate on Capitol Hill. The iBootBar reduces the need for in-room technical support in each of the Senate's remote hearing rooms.

The K2 Audio solution centrally monitors the audio network devices in all of the Senate's remote hearing rooms. In each hearing room, an audio system is installed with microphones wired to a 'break-out box' that houses eight additional microphones and the connectivity to the rest of the system. These boxes require routine maintenance that typically results in a power reboot, which involves maintenance personnel walking to a given hearing room and manually cycle power.

Rodrigo Ordonez, design consultant at K2 Audio, said, "Prior to the implementation of Dataprobe's iBootBar, anytime one of the break-out boxes required a firmware upgrade or remote service, maintenance was called to the room in question to open up the rack and power cycle the device manually. With maintenance staff potentially located in a different building, and with six or seven break-out boxes per hearing room, the Senate decided this situation was no longer workable."

Ordonez continued, "Thanks to the iBootBar, when a box needs to be reset, it can be done easily and efficiently -- from the maintenance shop. Using remote control for this type of issue versus having to be in the physical location to power cycle equipment is a great benefit."
