Datamark and Reprotech Awarded $40 Million Contract to Manage National Bank Documents.

MONTREAL--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 21, 1996--DATAMARK INC. (ME: DMK) The consortium consisting of the Quebec companies Lancaster Datamark, a subsidiary of Datamark Inc., and Reprotech Inc., has been awarded the National Bank's document management outsourcing contract.

Estimated at $40 million and having a minimum term of five years, this agreement introduces an innovative concept in the banking industry. Beginning April 1, 1996, the consortium will take responsibility, on behalf of the National Bank, for the design, production, printing, storage and distribution of forms and office materials, reprographic services and the management of the fleet of photocopiers at head office.

For the purposes of the contract, the consortium will hire the 23 employees assigned to management of the Bank's documents and will purchase the financial institution's equipment, warehouse and inventory of documents. - the consortium's flexibility enabled it to meet the Bank's specific needs; and

- the approach advocated by the consortium is designed not only to cut costs, but also to constantly improve document management by applying new technologies. Digital printing on demand, used for the past few years by Reprotech:

- allows for printing of the required quantity, when and where desired;

- reduces storage-related financial, handling and rental expenses;

- reduces distribution costs;

- eliminates document obsolescence costs;

- while providing better quality printing.

The Bank estimates that this outsourcing contract will reduce its document management costs by approximately 10 percent.

Electronic forms, which can be completed directly by computer, will be introduced gradually, enabling the Bank to further reduce its printing costs and to further personalize its documents based on customers' specific needs.
