The decision was made based on Datalode's need to obtain a communications infrastructure that will enable it to transmit customer registration data from more than 80 countries around the world.

Datalode, founded in 1997, provides multimedia registration for companies. After analyzing existing data acquisition technology, Datalode's founders started the company to enable cost-effective, reliable and scalable electronic registration for customers ranging from NBC NBC

Benefiting From New Technologies

Gaylyn DeMartini is president of Datalode and responsible for the strategic direction of the company, as well as all infrastructure and administrative functions. DeMartini's corporate objective is to provide the best-of-class applications and is constantly evaluating cutting-edge technologies to reduce costs and better serve customers.

"We wanted to partner with a company whose business model and technology orientation matched our own," observed DeMartini.

She established five criteria for selecting a service provider. The supplier selected needed to provide: 1) Cutting-edge technology, 2) Offer technology that was synergistic synergistic /syn·er·gis·tic/ (sin?er-jis´tik)

DeMartini evaluated bids from three vendors over a period of four months. She selected Infonet to implement the network backbone based on Infonet's strategic direction, higher reliability and faster connections.

"I like the `one-stop shop' experience I've enjoyed with Infonet," remarked DeMartini. "Infonet's management has provided solutions to our business problems as well as looking ahead to our next-generation needs," she observed.

Datalode's implementation is proceeding in two phases: First with Datalode, then with Datalode customers. The company has also moved its servers offsite, where they are being managed by Infonet, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

"Because someone else is managing our servers, we no longer have to worry about them. As a result, we can focus on what we do best and allow Infonet to do what it does best," observed DeMartini.
