Datalink Chosen as Information Storage Architect by Navitaire, Inc.; SAN Provides Ability to Expand Offerings to Customers.

Business Editors & Technology Writers

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 7, 2001

Datalink Corporation Datalink Corporation (NASDAQ: DTLK) is an American data storage corporation with operations throughout the United States. The company engages in the design, installation, and support of data storage infrastructures that store, protect, and provide continuous access to  (Nasdaq:DTLK), announced today that it has been chosen by Navitaire, Inc. to design, build and support the company's information protection and backup architecture. Datalink has implemented a Storage Area Network (SAN) for Navitaire, a provider of industry leading passenger revenue accounting technology to airline customers, to accommodate the company's plan to take its proven capability at running complicated industry-vertical applications and apply that to the deregulated utility industry.

After reviewing the company's business needs and existing storage infrastructure, Datalink determined that a shared disk architecture was the best solution. Because Navitaire's customers require 24x7 access with an Internet component, the ability to perform live backups to disk was a deciding factor in recommending a SAN architecture. The shared disk will allow Navitaire to consolidate its storage, providing better utilization and reduced management. The SAN implemented by Datalink includes technologies from Legato (Legato Systems, Inc., Mountain View, CA, www.legato.com) A leading provider of storage management and high-availability software founded in 1988 and acquired by EMC Corporation in 2003. Legato software, including Celestra data management (data mining, data migration, etc. , StorageTek, Brocade brocade (brōkād`), fabric, originally silk, generally reputed to have been developed to a high state of perfection in the 16th and 17th cent. in France, Italy, and Spain. , Emulex, and LSI LSI: see integrated circuit.

"We have been working with Datalink for our storage needs for years," said Mark Reinhardt, Technical Director for Navitaire. "When we began looking at SAN architecture, Datalink was able to explain how to incorporate the technology into our existing system, referred us to other customers who had successfully implemented SANs, and were able to architect a solution that fit our needs perfectly. Their ability to install was key, along with the great maintenance and support plan."
