Last February, Howard University Howard University, at Washington, D.C.; coeducational; with federal support. It was founded in 1867 by Gen. Oliver O. Howard of the Freedmen's Bureau, to provide education for newly emancipated slaves. The current exhibition is "New Frontiers in Medicine," celebrating Sojourner Truth's work at Freedmen's Hospital (now Howard University Hospital) ... They're often forgotten, but 9,000 black cowboys helped pioneer the old West. Now Denver's Colorado Historical Museum (1300 Broadway; 303-866-3682) presents "Invisible Hero: The Untold Story of the Black Cowboy." Opened last February, the show remains open to February 28, 2000.... It's time It's Time was a successful political campaign run by the Australian Labor Party (ALP) under Gough Whitlam at the 1972 election in Australia. Doll collectors should head to the Festival of Black Dolls Black dolls are dark-skinned, inanimate representations of dark-skinned people. Representations--both stereotypical and accurate--fashioned into playthings, date back to the early 1800s.
