NEPEAN, Ontario--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Dec. 22, 1998--DATALEX(ME:DXK.) Datalex Corp. (ME:DXK), a leading provider of Year 2000 conversion software for MVS environments, announced today it has received the first set of a series of call-ups for bids from the States of New York and Maryland.

With systems integration partners chosen from both Canada and the United States, Datalex is currently formulating bids for Year 2000 remediation and testing work in both New York and Maryland. To date Maryland has announced call ups on less than US$50 million of Year 2000 remediation work on a total expected to exceed US$250 million before mid-1999. New York State is similarly in the early stages of its call-up process, which is expected to run throughout 1999.

Datalex is an independent provider of software tools targeting primarily Year 2000 conversions of mainframe computer applications running under various versions of the Multiple Virtual Storage ("MVS") operating system.
