Datak Telecom, one of the largest broadband Internet See broadband.  service providers in Iran, has selected Samsung Electronics Samsung Electronics (SEC, Hangul:삼성전자; KSE: 005930, KSE: 005935, LSE: SMSN, LSE: SMSD) is a South Korean multinational corporation and the world's largest and leading electronics and information technology company.  Co. Ltd., a leading provider of telecom systems and mobile phones, as its sole WiMAX equipment vendor to bring the first WiMAX Wave2 service to Iran.

The installation and deployment of Samsung's WiMAX network equipment will begin in Tehran this month and the first commercial Mobile WiMAX service will be introduced in the second quarter of 2010. Samsung is providing a full range of Mobile WiMAX solutions, including base stations, access service network gateways, and all the related equipment and services.

Datak Telecom is the Internet subsidiary of Social Security Investment Company, Iran's largest Investment house. It is the leading local operator providing broadband internet services such as ADSL See DSL.

Wireless systems are typically slower than land-based, wireline networks. In the past, wireless broadband started at 250 Kbps, whereas land-based broadband was generally considered to start at T1  provider in the Middle East and North Africa also selected Samsung as its prime equipment vendor.
