DataWave Announces Successful First Three Months in Orlando.

DataWave (OTCBB:DWVSF) (CDNX:DTV.) installed 14 of their intelligent machines in strategic locations throughout the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) at the beginning of March 2001, and the initial results have been very positive.

The intelligent vending machines communicate via the BellSouth Mobitex network to DataWave's proprietary host gateway to allow for on-line credit card authorization, real-time sales tracking/reporting, cash & inventory management and service diagnostics/testing. Additionally, pricing, tax rates and other software configuration changes, like customized LCD or receipt messages, can be made remotely to all installed machines, without requiring an on-site service visit.

On an average, the machines have the capability of reaching thousands of convention attendees on any given show day. The machines were placed in specific high traffic areas throughout the Center, including the food court and the main concourse. "This is a great way to offer even more convenient services to our clients," according to Jessie Allen, General Manager of the Orange County Convention Center. This service allows Center attendees to make inexpensive calls from any telephone while they are a guest in Orlando. Attendees may also make calls to and from over 240 countries served by AT&T.

The OCCC is currently renovating and will be a total of 7 million square feet of exhibition, meeting room and public space. The newest addition is scheduled to open in 2003, making OCCC among the top three largest convention centers in the United States. Based on the success of the initial 14 machines, DataWave will expand into the new North/South Complex of the OCCC once completed.
