By using field level synchronization, a conflict will occur only when data has changed in the same field of a particular record on both machines. If a conflict does occur, Desktop To Go provides the following resolution options; the conflicting records are added as duplicate records to both machines, desktop data can override PalmPilot data, or PalmPilot data can override desktop data. Field Mapping Desktop To Go provides user customizable field mapping. Default field maps are included for each type of data and can be easily modified by the user for mapping such things as custom fields. The Desktop To Go field mapping dialog also has the ability to map combined fields to individual fields. For example, a desktop application may have a field called Name which contains both the first name and last name. Desktop To Go can map this field to the PalmPilot's individual fields, First Name and Last Name. Synchronization With Multiple PIMs Desktop To Go provides the ability to synchronize with multiple desktop PIMs. For example, one may choose to use Microsoft Outlook for group scheduling See calendaring. , Lotus Organizer for contacts, and the PalmPilot Desktop application for To Do's and Memos. Desktop To Go can be set up to synchronize these different applications with their respective counterparts on the PalmPilot.
