Gardner co-founded the highly successful Sagent Technology, Inc. in June 1995. Prior to Sagent, Gardner was vice president of products at Borland International (now Inprise). Earlier he was president, CEO and a founder of ReportSmith, Inc., which was purchased by Borland in 1994, and before that he was president of Viewpoint Systems. He has also held senior management positions at Tesseract and Tymshare, Inc.
