The CAB defined its role as a 'think tank' where the members will discuss the data management industry, trends and issues; identify the common customer direction and needs; and provide product enhancement recommendations to DataFlux that will have a direct impact on future releases of DataFlux solutions.

Ken Hoang, CAB chairman and founder/CTO of Siperian noted a common industry trend, saying, "Organizations today tend to operate as process driven lines of business. Yet, strategic corporate decisions need to be based on enterprise wide procedures. As a result, data management problems to integrate an organization are not easy to fix. Companies must understand that strategic decision making all starts with the consistency, accuracy and reliability of their data."

During the meeting, CAB member James Ruan of PricewaterhouseCoopers said "The board provides different perspectives to help DataFlux vocalize its message." The blending of IT and business views will help DataFlux to better understand and articulate the specific issues and challenges facing different lines of business within an organization. Upon closing of its first meeting, the board agreed to supply an architecture wish list, to provide user feedback, and to provide day-to-day examples of how DataFlux products are functioning and integrating in the client's environment.
