DataDirect Technologies, the leading provider of components for connecting data and applications, today announced support for HP's Itanium-based family of servers running the HP-UX HP's version of Unix that runs on its 9000 family. It is based on SVID and incorporates features from BSD Unix along with several HP innovations.

. Two product lines, DataDirect Connect(R) for ODBC (Open DataBase Connectivity) A database programming interface from Microsoft that provides a common language for Windows applications to access databases on a network.  and DataDirect Connect64(TM) for ODBC, support the full line of HP Integrity servers for both 32-bit and 64-bit applications.

DataDirect Connect64 for ODBC offers full support for HP's Integrity server family, enabling HP-UX 11i customers to take advantage of the additional memory this platform provides. DataDirect Connect64 for ODBC and DataDirect Connect for ODBC provide a consistent interface across databases and platforms, minimizing the programming effort for customers porting applications to this platform.

HP first licensed DataDirect Technologies' ODBC driver for Oracle in 1998. The driver is embedded Inserted into. In 2007 the entire HP OpenView portfolio was rebranded under the strengthened HP Software name. , a flexible architecture and suite of business computer management programs. More recently, DataDirect Technologies ported its Oracle client-based ODBC driver to HP's Integrity server family running the HP-UX 11i operating system to support data access for OpenView. DataDirect Technologies also ported their suite of wire protocol ODBC drivers to the same platform for support of all 32-bit applications.

"We have a long history of working with HP and as a leader in standards-based data connectivity," said John Goodson, Vice President of Product Operations for DataDirect Technologies. "We're proud to be part of the network of companies supporting HP's Integrity server family running the HP-UX 11i operating system by giving customers fast, reliable access to data for both 32-bit and 64-bit applications."

About DataDirect Technologies, Inc.

DataDirect Technologies is the leading provider of components for connecting software to data, providing standards-based technology that ensures consistent behavior and performance across diverse environments such as J2EE (Java 2 Platform, Enterprise Edition) A platform from Sun for building distributed enterprise applications. J2EE services are performed in the middle tier between the user's machine and the enterprise's databases and legacy information systems. , .NET, Web, and client/server. With the most comprehensive support for ODBC, JDBC (Java DataBase Connectivity) A programming interface that lets Java applications access a database via the SQL language. Since Java interpreters (Java Virtual Machines) are available for all major client platforms, this allows a platform-independent database , ADO and XML XML

Markup language developed to be a simplified and more structural version of SGML. It incorporates features of HTML (e.g., hypertext linking), but is designed to overcome some of HTML's limitations.
, DataDirect Technologies helps developers bring software to market faster by speeding development, integration and deployment. No matter what the standard, platform, or data source, DataDirect Technologies ensures the easiest experience connecting software to data.

DataDirect Connect for ODBC and DataDirect Connect64 for ODBC are the only full suites of wire protocol ODBC drivers for all major databases across all major platforms. The driver communicates directly to the database through the database's own wire level protocol, eliminating the need for the database client software. This effectively removes an entire communication layer, simplifies installation and dramatically improves performance.
