DataCert Vice President Establishes Intellectual Property Blog; IP Edge Created as Resource for Growing Field of Intellectual Property Management.

HOUSTON -- In response to the increased interest in information on intellectual property management and in line with the company's long-term intellectual property growth strategies, DataCert's Vice President of Intellectual Property Business Development Domenic Leo Leo, in astronomy
Leo [Lat.,=the lion], northern constellation lying S of Ursa Major and on the ecliptic (apparent path of the sun through the heavens) between Cancer and Virgo; it is one of the constellations of the zodiac.
has launched a new law blog called IP Edge (http://ipedge.datacert.com/).

An IP thought leader with more than 15 years' experience, Leo developed IP Edge as a forum to address efficiencies in procuring, managing and maintaining intellectual property. IP Edge focuses on best practices and industry updates and features contributions by T. David Reed, a U.S. patent agent who managed Procter & Gamble's foreign filing initiatives for 18 years.

"Though there appeared to be many intellectual property blogs, I didn't see a blog dedicated to intellectual property management," said Leo. "My goal is to have IP Edge be a 'cyber watercooler stop' for executives and professionals."

Intellectual property law - which regulates the ownership of patents, copyrights, trademarks and trades secrets - is one of the fastest-growing legal fields in the United States and one that compliments DataCert's electronic invoicing and legal spend management initiatives.

"The practice of IP differs greatly from the business of IP," said Leo. "IP professionals have to learn not only the law of IP, but the business of IP. Unlike most legal practitioners, most IP professionals are responsible for creating, maintaining and protecting assets - and it is in this area that DataCert's expertise will come into play."
