A police officer and a former colleague who were accused of misusing confidential force computer records were cleared of all charges yesterday.

Prosecutors said serving officer Ray Edmonds, 38, of Gateshead, used national and local police data to track the owner of a car before passing the details to former officer John Rowe John Rowe may refer to:

Both Mr Edmonds and Mr Rowe, 34, from Sunderland, denied conspiracy to unlawfully obtain personal data between May 11 and 14 last year, and a Newcastle Crown Court jury was discharged after failing to return verdicts after a four-day trial.

Prosecutors were given a week to decide whether the pair should be tried again, but at the court yesterday, they decided to drop the charges after another accused, Terrence Haley, 45, was cleared of any involvement in the case.

Two charged

TWO teenagers have been arrested and charged with supplying cocaine.
