Data Translation Announces Intention to Develop Synthetic Instrument Software.MARLBORO Marlboro or Marlborough (märl`bərō), city (1990 pop. 31,813), Middlesex co., E Mass.; settled on the site of a Native American village 1657, inc. as a city 1890. , Mass. -- Data Translation announces a product initiative to create a LXI-based software programming standard for synthetic instruments. This new development would be a major enhancement of their Measure Foundry application software. Measure Foundry is Data Translation's popular rapid application development and solution based software package fully supporting all types of standard industry instruments. The goal of the initiative is to identify major partners who plan to utilize LXI for synthetic instrument applications. The promise of synthetic instruments is the ability to alter the capability of a particular instrument through software. Beyond virtual instruments, which represent a specific device, synthetic instruments allow a generic test and measurement device to be used as the required instrument. "Measure Foundry is an intuitive drag and drop A graphical user interface (GUI) capability that lets you perform operations by moving the icon of an object with the mouse into another window or onto another icon. For example, files can be copied or moved by dragging them from one folder to another. graphical interface saving the user both time and money." states Fred Molinari, CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. and President. "Users create LXI-based measurement solutions for their application in a fraction of the time it takes with traditional text-based programming." Key Features of Measure Foundry for LXI-Based Measurement --Complete support of all IVI instrument classes including: DMM, Power Supply, Function Generator, Oscilloscope, RF Generator, Spectrum Analyzer, Power Meter, and Switch --Unique IVI Interface eliminates COM programming. --Thread-based design allows faster parallel processing. --Supports standard interfaces such as LXI, GPIB (General Purpose Interface Bus) An IEEE 488 standard parallel interface used for attaching sensors and programmable instruments to a computer. Using a 24-pin connector, up to 15 devices can be daisy chained together. HP's version is the HPIB. , USB USB in full Universal Serial Bus Type of serial bus that allows peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, digitizers, data gloves, etc.) to be easily connected to a computer. , PXI/VXI and RS-232. --Built-in installer for easy distribution. --Support all system standards: IVI, SICL SICL - Standard Instrument Control Library , VISA, SCPI. Data Translation will be exhibiting Measure Foundry at Auto Test Con, Booth #925, as well as taking part in the multi-vendor demo sponsored by the LXI Consortium. |
