Running on Windows 3.1, Win95 and Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. , Cambio is a visual tool designed to automatically capture useful fields of data from complex, irregular text files and reports, and build those fields into clean database records. In addition to standalone usage, Cambio also can be integrated as a front end to the company's widely used universal data conversion product, Data Junction for Windows, to exploit an even richer set of manipulations and conversions to more than 50 database formats including Oracle, Lotus Notes and Microsoft Access.

"All too often valuable data is locked away in inaccessible legacy systems, buried in obscure formats that can only be retrieved as printed reports or text files, or embedded in textual data streams from online services and the Internet," said Mike Hoskins, president of Data Junction Corporation. "Before Cambio for Windows, the traditional way of extracting this kind of database data required slow and expensive custom programming, or tedious work with inferior text parsing See parse.

Cambio also includes the capability to: read any kind of report architecture; handle floating headers, details and footers; autoparse columnar and tagged data; support large fields and records; and handle virtually any file size.

In addition, users can automate the extraction process by saving and reusing Cambio settings. By feeding saved Cambio extraction settings into Data Junction, users have a runtime deployment option for batching conversions with complete logging controls.
