Data General announces DataGenie handheld computer; Simplifies data collection for mobile professionals.


WESTBORO, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 31, 1995--Data General Corp. today announced the newest member of its family of handheld computers A computing device that can be easily held in one hand while the other hand is used to operate it. The Palm devices are a popular example. See Palm, smartphone and palmtop. , DataGenie, a low-cost, durable, lightweight data collection device that allows mobile professionals to collect, enter and access data and system information in the palm of their hand.

Users can download data from a host computer directly to the DataGenie computer before going into the field, making current information available for mobile applications. After information is collected, mobile professionals can use DataGenie on the spot to compare, compute To perform mathematical operations or general computer processing.
