The AV 2300 has seven I/O (Input/Output) The transfer of data between the CPU and a peripheral device. Every transfer is an output from one device and an input to another. See PC input/output. I/O - Input/Output slots: six PCI (1) (Payment Card Industry) See PCI DSS. Storage includes five hot- swap disk bays, plus support for up to two CLARiiON(R) SCSI SCSI in full Small Computer System Interface Once common standard for connecting peripheral devices (disks, modems, printers, etc.) to small and medium-sized computers. SCSI has given way to faster standards, such as Firewire and USB. and Fibre disk arrays. The AV 2300 offers twice the memory capacity supported by the previous entry-level server, the AV 2200, and provides a performance boost of more than 25%. It starts at an estimated street price of $3,077 for a single processor system with 128 MB of memory. The AV 2300 servers are available now with Pentium III 500 MHz processors, and will be available with Pentium III 550 MHz processors in July. AViiON AV 2700R The AViiON AV 2700R server can be rackmounted in "high-density" configurations using up to 12 dual-processor systems in a single cabinet. These servers are the platform for Data General's award-winning NT Cluster-in-a-Box(TM) and TermServer-in-a-Box(TM) packages. The AV 2700R will be available in July with single or dual 550 MHz Intel Pentium III processors, 512 KB of integrated L2 cache per processor, and up to 1 GB of fast 100-MHz memory. The AV 2700R may be configured as a "high-density" server in a 34-, 60-, or 73-inch rackmount cabinet.
