Data Fellows Names Christopher Vargas President of North American Operations; Former Cisco Director to Spearhead Leading Security Solution Provider's U.S. Expansion.

Data Fellows Corp., a leading provider of data security solutions, today announced that it has appointed Chris Vargas to the position of president and CEO of its North American subsidiary, Data Fellows, Inc.

Vargas will be responsible for all of Data Fellows' operations within the North American region, including Sales, Business Development and Human Resources.

Prior to joining Data Fellows, Vargas worked for eight years at Cisco Systems in a number of sales and marketing roles, including director of International Marketing. In this position, he was responsible for developing and executing a marketing strategy for Cisco's Asia, Latin America and European operations.

Prior to his marketing role, Vargas spent six years in sales positions at Cisco, including regional sales manager for service providers in Eastern Europe, Russia, the Near East and the Middle East.

Before joining Cisco, Vargas was program manager for Advanced Networking Programs for an Intranet Services division of the USAF. There, he directed the design, development and installation of secure networks worldwide. Among those projects was Desert Storm, which involved the development and rapid deployment of a high-speed Intranet access.

The network concept designed for Desert Storm was subsequently adopted as a standard for the U.S. Government.

Vargas received an M.S. in electrical engineering and a B.S. in computing engineering from the University of Notre Dame. He was also a Fulbright Scholar to Finland from 1987 to 1988.
