Data Critical introduces Critical Link at PCS '95; pager belt-clip adaptor turns Motorola advisor into data receiver.


ORLANDO, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- Sept. 21, 1995--Data Critical Corp. today introduced Critical Link(TM), a small belt-clip adaptor for the Motorola Advisor(TM) alphanumeric pager that turns the Advisor into a data receiver.

Individuals can receive data such as images and word processing word processing, use of a computer program or a dedicated hardware and software package to write, edit, format, and print a document. Text is most commonly entered using a keyboard similar to a typewriter's, although handwritten input (see pen-based computer) and  documents, and then easily transfer that information to a PC-compatible laptop or hand-held computer Noun 1. hand-held computer - a portable battery-powered computer small enough to be carried in your pocket

Critical Link can be used in a number of ways: law enforcement personnel can receive mug shots or photos of missing children, field personnel can receive pricing updates and mobile workers can receive important faxes while away from the office. The Critical Link connector attaches to the bottom of the Advisor belt-clip cradle; when data is received, the user can retrieve the information by attaching a cable connector to the laptop or hand-held computer.

The basic Critical Link package, which is sold direct through Data Critical for $199, comes with a belt clip adaptor, a laptop or hand-held computer cable connector and the software to send and receive up to 240 bytes of information.

The basic software package allows users to send encrypted alphanumeric messages for security; additional software can be purchased to send files of any length. Critical Link can also be used as an add-on with Data Critical's other products, Image APB APB
