Data Critical Corp. today announced the completion of a new round of investment capital financing totaling $3.7 million.

Data Critical designs, manufactures and markets cost-effective wireless applications for mobile professionals. Proceeds from this latest funding will go toward product development and marketing of the company's Cardio-Pager(TM) and RhythmStat XL(TM) applications for the medical field, and for a utilities application called MobileView(TM).

Apex Investment, First Analysis, Merrill Lynch and Spencer Trask Securities Investors--Data Critical's original venture capital firms --were joined by Ace USA, The EnCompass Group and a group of individual investors to contribute to the latest round of financing.

Hewlett-Packard has licensed Data Critical's technology for two medical products, PalmVue(TM) and ECGStat(TM), which transmit ECG waveforms, critical patient information and other medical data to remote physicians via handheld PCs. Data Critical has also developed Image APB(TM), which transmits mug shots and APB information to law enforcement officials.

The company's MobileView application will transmit maps and updated work orders to utility crews in the field, thus saving time, minimizing costly mistakes and improving customer service.
