Data Connection announces first Internet/LDAP Directory Server for Windows NT 4.0.LONDON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Aug. 22, 1996--Data Connection Limited (DCL (1) (Digital Command Language) Digital's standard command language for the VMS operating system on its VAX series. (2) (Data Compression L ) today announced Windows NT (Windows New Technology) A 32-bit operating system from Microsoft for Intel x86 CPUs. NT is the core technology in Windows 2000 and Windows XP (see Windows). Available in separate client and server versions, it includes built-in networking and preemptive multitasking. v4.0 support for its Internet Directory Server (DC X500). This is the first truly distributed directory server for Windows NT 4.0 and supports native http, LDAP (Lightweight Directory Access Protocol) A protocol used to access a directory listing. LDAP support is implemented in Web browsers and e-mail programs, which can query an LDAP-compliant directory. and X.500 protocols. DC X500 also supports directory synchronisation and integration with common groupware directories. The directory can be accessed from web browsers (using LDAP or http protocols) and from DCL's own Windows directory browser application. It can be administered by Windows administration tools and monitored by SNMP-enabled management workstations. The product is already available to beta customers and is publicly available in September. Pricing is available on request.
