Data Broadcasting Corp. to launch Internet agriculture data service.

JACKSON, Wyo.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 17, 1996--Data Broadcasting Corp. (NASDAQ:DBCC), America's leading provider of real-time market data to the individual investor, Monday announced it will provide a broad-based agricultural data service to the Internet via a new service called AgCast.

It will include U.S. and international commodities and futures pricing, news, weather and other agribusiness information.

Data Broadcasting intends to price AgCast competitively below $30 per month, and has scheduled its launch for the first quarter of 1997. AgCast will be made available directly through the DBC Web site (www.dbc.com) and via direct broadcast satellite (DBS).

In addition to offering agricultural data for a fixed monthly fee, AgCast will provide advertising services to businesses whose target audience is AgCast subscribers.

Besides broadcasting agricultural information, AgCast will create online chat and electronic mail forums that will enable group members to share ideas and discuss issues of industry interest.

Steve Murphy, formerly vice president-operations and marketing with Broadcast Partners, an agribusiness information services company, has been named vice president-general manager of the AgCast business unit.

Together with other former Broadcast Partners executives, Murphy will spearhead the AgCast operations, which will be headquartered in Des Moines, Iowa.
