Data Broadcasting Acquires European Technology Partner, Itex -- FIT -- Limited.

) today announced the purchase, effective April 1, 2000, of Itex (FIT) Limited from the Itex Group for consideration totaling approximately $12.8 million (8 million Pounds Sterling), made up of a cash payment of $11.2 million (7 million Pounds Sterling) plus relief against an accounts receivable accounts receivable n. the amounts of money due or owed to a business or professional by customers or clients. Generally, accounts receivable refers to the total amount due and is considered in calculating the value of a business or the business' problems in paying  of $1.6 million (1 million Pounds Sterling).

Itex (FIT) Limited is a service delivery agent, and software and technology partner of the Financial Times Asset Management/Interactive Data (FTAM/ID) part of DBC See dBA.

After completion of the Itex (FIT) Limited purchase and the company's recently announced $43 million investment in MarketWatch.com, Data Broadcasting's cash position will be approximately $10 million, after implementing short-term borrowings of approximately $25 million from DBC's 60 percent majority shareholder, Pearson plc.

Itex Group is a private software company that serves institutions throughout Europe and the Asia Pacific region from its offices in the Channel Islands.
