DataAccess America Inc., a 100 percent subsidiary of Data Access (India) Ltd., one of India's leading long distance carriers, and VocalTec Communications Ltd. (Nasdaq: VOCL), a leading telecom equipment provider offering packet voice solutions for carriers and service providers, today announced that DataAccess America has begun commercial operations at its new switching center in New York using VocalTec's carrier grade equipment. The switching center facility, with capacity to handle 15 billion minutes of traffic per year, supports both TDM and IP voice traffic.

DataAccess America will provide long distance service in the United States, as well as international long distance (ILD) service for the Mexican and Latin American markets. VocalTec's carrier-grade equipment is installed in the New York switching center, as well as in Data Access' fully owned Points of Presence (PoPs) in Miami, Denver, Los Angeles and Jersey City. Connected to Data Access' global network at switching centers in London and Hong Kong, the New York switching center enables Data Access to deliver traffic to and from any destination in the world. The facility is connected to 34 Tier 1 carriers in North and Latin America and more than 84 carriers globally.
