Dascombe dismisses Black move rumour.

Byline: By Gavin Beech

TOM DASCOMBE yesterday dismissed as "absolute rubbish" speculation that he is going to be installed as trainer to Betfair co-founder Andrew Black Andrew Black may refer to:
  • Andy Black (footballer) (born 1917), Scottish international footballer
  • Andy Black (poker player) (born 1965), Northern Irish poker professional
  • Andrew Black (gambling entrepreneur), creator of betfair
 at Churn Stables, Oxfordshire.

Black, who is estimated to be worth pounds 190 million, according to the Sunday Times Rich List The Sunday Times Rich List is a list of the 1,000 most wealthy people or families in the United Kingdom, updated annually in April and published as a magazine supplement by British national Sunday newspaper The Sunday Times since 1989. , has stated his intention to expand his bloodstock bloodstock

interests, and it has been suggested that he is lining up the purchase of the 80-box yard, owned by Erik Penser and formerly the home of trainer Gerard Butler until he moved to Newmarket earlier this year.

However, rising star Dascombe, who trains in Lambourn, was keen to stress such reports are wide of the mark.

Dascombe, who has already trained 28 winners this term, two more than his total for 2007, including two Group winners at the July meeting, said: "It's not happening. Some reports have been circulating in the media that I was going to be moving to Erik Penser's yard, but I can say now that it's definitely not happening.

"I'm not going anywhere and Andrew Black is not looking to buy that stable. Andrew is a massive supporter of my yard and he's a wonderful owner, but we're not going anywhere, and that is fact."

Dascombe's training career hit new heights this summer thanks to a pair of Group 2 successes at Newmarket last month, with Firth Of Fifth winning the Superlative Stakes and Classic Blade the July Stakes.

Black has a hand in five of the horses in training at Dascombe's Oneway Stable in Lambourn, including Listed winner Max One Two Three, who has not been seen since finishing down the field in the 1,000 Guineas at Newmarket in May.

Black and Dascombe also have high hopes for their unbeaten colt Marine Boy, a son of One Cool Cat, who had been due to run in today's Group 2 Gimcrack Stakes at waterlogged York after his impressive debut maiden success at Newbury.
