 star Dario Franchitti Dario Franchitti (b. 19 May, 1973 in Bathgate, West Lothian) is a Scottish racing driver of Italian descent. He is the 2007 IndyCar Series champion. He used to compete in the IndyCar Series, formerly drove in the CART series, and won the rain-shortened 2007 Indianapolis 500.  roared back into the Nascar championship by posting the fourth-fastest time ahead of today's race at Watkins Glen, New York Watkins Glen is a village in Schuyler County, New York, United States. The population was 2,149 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Schuyler CountyGR6.

The Village of Watkins Glen lies on the border of the towns of Dix and Montour.

The 35-year-old was back in action in his Dodge for the first time since his Ganassi Nascar Sprint Cup team was disbanded in June after its sponsors pulled out.

The Bathgate driver (right) said: "It's good to be back on track and proving exactly what we're capable of.

"It is the first time a team I was in had folded and it's not a nice experience."

But Franchitti insists he aims to stay in Nascar next season.

He said: "I'm going to talk to other teams and look at my options for next year."
