Daratech Reports Outstanding 1995 Performance for Bentley; Research Firm Estimates Bentley Revenue of over $95M and MicroStation growth of over 25 percent.


BOSTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 17, 1996--Daratech Inc., a market research and technology assessment firm specializing in CAD/CAM CAD/CAM

The company’s software serves the building, plant, civil, and geospatial vertical markets in the areas of architecture, engineering, construction (AEC) , Inc. For the year, Daratech estimates that Bentley exceeded $95M in revenue and that user expenditures on the flagship MicroStation(R) product increased by more than 25 percent.

Charles Foundyller, president of Daratech, comments, "1995 was Bentley's first year of independence and was outstanding for the company in many ways. Bentley exceeded our financial expectations, launched a range of very competitive products, invested in several strategic technologies, and proved able to build and maintain a world-class sales and support organization." Foundyller continues, "In my opinion, Bentley is positioned very strongly in all three of their engineering markets -- GeoEngineering, mechanical engineering, and building engineering."

Separately, Bentley stated that the fourth quarter of 1995 and the 1995 year brought tripled revenues compared with 1994 figures. Growth in user expenditures on all MicroStation products exceeded Bentley's own estimates of 35 percent. The company also recorded a full year of strong profitability and a continued debt-free balance sheet in its first year of consolidated development, marketing, and sales operations. The company, which has grown to 450 employees, also expanded its installed based to over 200,000 users during the year.

During the year, several major accounts signed long-term product and service purchasing commitments with Bentley. For example, Bechtel, Volkswagen, Duke Power, Fluor Daniel, Kvaerner, the City of Helsinki, Philips Electronics, and Anheuser Busch all entered into multi-year MicroStation purchasing agreements. Also, the North Dakota Department of Transportation The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is a part of the government of the U.S. state of North Dakota. NDDOT oversees the state's transportation system.  (DOT) selected MicroStation as its software foundation for civil engineering, the 40th state DOT to do so. Overall, subscriptions to the MicroStationCSP (SM) comprehensive support program more than doubled in the year.
