Darald Raymond Libby.


MANCHESTER, NH Darald Raymond Libby, 92, of Manchester, NH died June 23, 2009 at the Catholic Medical Center.

He was born in Groveton, NH on May 11, 1917, the son of Raymond and Veona (Morency) Libby. At an early age his family moved to Berlin, NH and he was a 1936 graduate of Berlin High School. After working at the Cascade Mill in Berlin for two years he attended Bentley School of Accounting and Finance, graduating in 1940.

In February 1941, Darald enlisted as a private in the US Army. After officer training and combat experience he rose to the rank of captain. During WWII WWII

, he participated in 51 continuous days of fighting and was with the front line troops which opened the gateway to Manila. For his service he was awarded the Bronze Star, Asiatic Pacific Service Medal, the Victory Medal, the Philippine Liberation Medal The Philippine Liberation Medal is a military award of the Republic of the Philippines which was created by an order of Commonwealth of the Philippines Army Headquarters on December 20 1944. , the Air Medal as well as the American Service Medal.

Darald married his high school classmate Julie Roy on June 29, 1946. He attended Northeastern University and received his bachelor's degree in 1951. He graduated from Boston College Law School in 1955 and received his LL.M LL.M Legum Magister (Master of Laws) . degree in taxation from Boston University School of Law Coordinates:  Boston University School of Law (BU Law) is the law school affiliated with Boston University. .

A prominent businessman, Darald was an owner and served as chairman of the board of the David Clark Company in Worcester, MA. His leadership helped to guide this firm into a position of high profitability and preeminence in the marketplace.

Darald always demonstrated calm but effective leadership in his various civic activities. He served as director of the Worcester Children's Friends Society, trustee of the Worcester Crafts Center, board member of the Center of New Beginning, and was a charter member and director of the American Association of Attorney-CPA's. He was also a Knight in the Sovereign Order of Malta American Association and the Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre The Equestrian Order of the Holy Sepulchre of Jerusalem is a Roman Catholic chivalric order of Knighthood that traces its roots to Godfrey of Bouillon, principal leader of the First Crusade.  of Jerusalem, USA.

Spending quiet time with his family always gave him his greatest joy and he will be greatly missed by all who knew him.

Family members include his wife of 62 years, Juliet C. (Roy) Libby of Manchester; four daughters, Margaret Libby of Manchester, Therese Libby and her husband Larry Siegel of Bedford, Susan Libby and her husband Paul Bessey of Weare, Martha Dandurand and her husband Richard of North Carolina North Carolina, state in the SE United States. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean (E), South Carolina and Georgia (S), Tennessee (W), and Virginia (N). Facts and Figures
