:IBM (International Business Machines Corporation, Armonk, NY, www.ibm.com) The world's largest computer company. IBM's product lines include the S/390 mainframes (zSeries), AS/400 midrange business systems (iSeries), RS/6000 workstations and servers (pSeries), Intel-based servers (xSeries) ) LTO Ultrium tape drives. Free upgrades to the Windows and Mac OS versions of Retrospect add LTO drivers to the backup software's built-in device driver database, allowing Retrospect to automatically recognize and support the high-performance drives.

IBM LTO Ultrium drives are setting new price-performance standards for the tape industry. With backup speeds of 30 megabytes per second (unit) megabytes per second - (MBps, MB/s) Millions of bytes per second. A unit of data rate. 1 MB/s = 1,000,000 bytes per second (not 1,048,576).  and a native storage capacity of 100 gigabytes per cartridge, these drives meet the massive data protection needs of today's data-rich networks. Retrospect Backup is able to fully leverage LTO's impressive performance to protect all the data stored on network servers, desktops, and notebooks.

"It's obvious that LTO is going to be incredibly successful," remarked Craig Isaacs, Dantz vice president of sales and marketing. "Backup administrators will benefit greatly from the combination of an IBM LTO Ultrium tape drive and Retrospect Backup software. They'll enjoy awesome performance and, thanks to Retrospect's breakthrough IncrementalPLUS(TM) technology, perfect one-step restores from incremental backups."

"Dantz worked closely with IBM engineers throughout the development cycle to design seamless compatibility with our advanced LTO technology," commented David Walling, Business Line Manager, LTO Tape Products, IBM Storage Technology Division. "Retrospect's built-in LTO driver lets users benefit immediately from LTO technology. The system is designed to allow users to simply connect an IBM Ultrium drive and Retrospect automatically configures itself for the new device."
