Dantel, Inc., the leader in network surveillance and management systems, has announced the release of its latest product: WebMon(R) Edge. The WebMon Edge is an intelligent, network-based surveillance appliance that enables a wide range of surveillance functions to be performed via any IP network, including the Internet. Among its core features are: remote monitoring (protocol) remote monitoring - (RMON) A network management protocol that allows network information to be gathered at a single computer. Whereas SNMP gathers network data from a single type of Management Information Base (MIB), RMON 1 defines nine additional MIBs that provide a , device control, visual verification, sensor analysis, secure access, and notification alarms for suspect events and environmental conditions.

With its expanded remote sensor capabilities, the WebMon Edge monitors virtually any type of sensory sensory /sen·so·ry/ (sen´sor-e) pertaining to sensation.

system or as part of an integrated network-wide surveillance system. The WebMon Edge is currently being evaluated by one of the largest telecom companies in the U.S., and is proving to be an effective, cost-efficient surveillance and control solution in several applications.

Frank Martinez, Director of Marketing said, "The WebMon Edge provides the integration of key capabilities for addressing an array of surveillance applications for communications, utilities and industrial monitoring, as well as the global threats facing our critical infrastructure today. The Edge extends intelligent monitoring beyond currently available systems for vulnerable locations often left uncovered by traditional surveillance methods."

"The WebMon Edge provides out-of-band telemetric monitoring and visual awareness of remote facilities, and we are excited about the interest being shown in several industries. We are equally excited about the next members of the WebMon family -- the WebMon Matrix and WebMon Management software suite -- which we will make available in spring of 2004," said Martinez.

The compact WebMon Edge is easily mountable on a wall, cabinet or relay rack, making it ideal for monitoring any type of facility. It supports a variety of sensory inputs and communications interfaces, and operates over an extended temperature range for use in unforgiving environments.

Dantel will be showcasing the WebMon Edge at the AFCEA Western Conference and Exposition 2004 at the San Diego Convention Center The San Diego Convention Center is the main convention center for the city of San Diego, California.
