Danka Announces New Features of Copy/Print Tracking Service; Vertical Markets Benefit from Customized Software.

Danka Business Systems PLC (Nasdaq:DANKY) today launched new print/copy tracking and billing services using the latest version of JASPrint(TM) software solutions from Network Printing Solutions (NPS) of London.

JASPrint is a suite of modular software that monitors and controls usage of networked and standalone copiers and printers, and attributes costs by user, department, client or project. Companies can use this information to charge expenses to internal or external clients. Companies can also use the software to control workflows, by helping direct jobs to the most appropriate device, based on user needs and per-page charges.

The latest version of JASPrint software contains the following new capabilities:

-- Ability to track decentralized printing from PCs to desktop devices, as well
as centralized printing conducted through a print server

-- Remote meter reading allows tracking of standalone copiers

-- Secure printing in a networked environment. Encrypted jobs are sent to a
shared printer, but are only released when the user arrives at the device and
inputs a code to activate the job

-- Auditing and billing of post-production tasks, including finishing options

-- Enhanced graphic user interface. User menus request client and project
billing numbers and show print instructions and total cost. Instructions also
appear for users who have exceeded the page quota or capabilities of the device
chosen, with suggested alternate print devices.

Customized for Vertical Markets

Danka also markets new customized versions of JASPrint for large vertical markets, including real estate, architectural/engineering companies, law firms and others. The software allows real estate companies to chargeback copies and prints to a decentralized sales force that doesn't log onto a network. In architectural and engineering firms, the software tracks all output, including drawings from large plotters, and equips firms to bill by both client and project level.

Law firms can use the software to track phone calls, postage and faxes, in addition to prints and copies. The latest version of software also supports tracking of Novell Netware print queues.
