Danka Business Systems PLC (Nasdaq:DANKY) today announced that the Fiery(R) DPS 9110 front-end solution it developed with Electronics for Imaging Inc. (EFI(R)) (Nasdaq:EFII) now supports mid-volume and high-volume cluster printing with Canon, Toshiba and Heidelberg printing systems.

The DPS 9110 supports a full complement of production printing features, including Proof Mode, which enables printing one set for approval prior to running the complete job; mixed media support; subset finishing; chapterization; and advanced clustering capabilities, such as load balancing, plus automatic splitting and collation of color and black-and-white pages. This powerful solution boosts productivity by providing an easy-to-use, complete production workflow, which gives users efficient access to all the features and options of the Heidelberg Digimaster 9110 engine.

The DPS 9110 is the first printing solution to include EFI Velocity workflow software modules. Velocity is EFI's innovative line of modular, scalable software capable of driving up to 10 printers through one common, intuitive interface, as well as components for production scanning, document building, and document imposition.

Velocity Balance(TM) automatically detects color and black-and-white pages within a document and routes each page to the appropriate device. The color pages are then automatically reintegrated to produce the final document. Leveraging Velocity Balance, the DPS 9110 harnesses the power of multiple printers by utilizing Smart Job Routing capabilities, which sends a print job to the print devices with the smallest workload. The Heidelberg inserter allows jobs that were split to be collated automatically at the back end of the printing process.

Velocity Scan(TM) easily imports both color and black-and-white paper documents into a digital production workflow and can send scans directly to Velocity Balance for document imposition. This software supports automatic document feeders and TWAIN scanning. It also provides image processing features and allows files to be saved in an Adobe PDF format.
