Danish student plans to return.

METTE Bigum had such a good time when she attended Fife College she wants to return to work in Scotland when her studies are complete.

The Danish student, who attends Aarhus Technical College in her home country, benefited from Fife's strong international links by completing a 10-week placement to enhance her multimedia skills. Mette was able to tap into the college's multimedia expertise to build up her knowledge of Photoshop and Flash software. This included a futuristic assignment to create a website for a time travel company. Mette's website is based on the Viking Age

It draws the user into the site, which her brief says must contain five working pages including a home page and time portal Time portals are often employed in various fictional genres, such as Sci-Fi and Fantasy. They can be represented as vortices of energy, which allow matter to travel from one point in time to another by passing through the portal, or may appear as an ordinary doorway. .

Mette's multimedia class in Aarhus is an international one, taught in English. Every year in the fourth semester, one or two students make the trip to Fife College to study for between eight to 10 weeks.

This is part of a long-standing connection between the two colleges. Mike Inglis, art and design lecturer at Fife College, said: 'We have a long established relationship with Aarhus College and are always delighted to have their final year students on study placements.

'Mette did some impressive work here and seemed to enjoy herself.'
