Danish brewery workers protest beer drinking rules.

Some Danish brewery workers have gone on strike to keep the right to sample beer while on the production floor. Workers at the Harboe brewery west of the Danish capital said they would stay on strike after new rules were imposed about where and when they could consume beer within the brewery.

The new rules would limit beer consumption to the brewery cafeteria, but workers want to retain the right to sample beer in the production and bottling departments.

More than 90 percent of the employees voted to continue the strike at a union meeting, press reports said.

The beer drinking restrictions were one component in ongoing labor negotiations. According to existing brewery rules, workers are allowed to drink six beers or other beverages per day.
