Daniel Neal Named Head of USinternetworking's AppHost Business Unit.

Unit Enables Independent Software Vendors to Leverage

USi's Global Network and Sales/Marketing Support to

Provide Applications to Subscribers

USinternetworking, Inc. (Nasdaq:USIX USIX USinternetworking, Inc. (stock symbol) ), the leading Application Service Provider (ASP), today announced Daniel Neal as Vice President of Application Hosting and head of USi's AppHost(SM) Business Unit. Through AppHost, Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) host their applications with USi, so that their potential customers have the option to use their software on a subscription basis without having to build the technological and operational infrastructure they would otherwise need to host it themselves. In addition to ASP-grade infrastructure, USi's AppHost Business Unit offers customized client care, pre-sales support and tailored collateral on the ASP model to ISVs.

Before being named to lead the AppHost Business Unit, Neal was Senior Director, E-Commerce Partnering at USi, where he contributed to development of the company's rapidly evolving E-Commerce strategy. In that role he developed and maintained relationships with E-Commerce Solution Partners and managed these relationships on an operational level. While in this role, Neal worked to develop the new AppHost product in response to demand from ISVs.

Neal joined USi in July 1998 as Senior Director, Acquisition Integration. In that position, he designed and executed a comprehensive pre-IPO program to integrate two consulting & systems integration firms acquired in Fall 1998 into all aspects of USi's operations; and managed activities to prepare the acquired entities for USi's IPO (Initial Public Offering) The first time a company offers shares of stock to the public. While not a computer term per se, many founders, employees and insiders of computer companies have found this acronym more exciting than any tech term they ever heard. .

Prior to joining USi, Neal was Director, National Partnering for Global One Communications, LLC/Sprint Corp., where we oversaw a team that negotiated and implemented major commercial transactions to deliver international value-added network services. Neal also served 11 years in the Public Sector, serving as Senior Staff Member in the Office of the Vice President, National Performance Review and as Director, National Capital Planning Staff for the U.S. General Services Administration The General Services Administration (GSA) was established by section 101 of the Federal Property and Administrative Services Act of 1949 (40 U.S.C.A. § 751).
