) today announced the appointment of Daniel L. Palmer as its president and chief operating officer Chief Operating Officer (COO)

Palmer has served vice president of engineering and as an officer of the company since he joined Digital Link in 1989, and recently his duties as an officer have been expanded to include additional management responsibilities. The company is currently seeking a replacement for Palmer as vice president of engineering.

In his new position, Palmer will be responsible for closer coordination of marketing, engineering and operations functions. Vinita Gupta, the founder and chief executive officer of the company, stated: "I believe this change in the senior management team will enable the company to maintain its focus on growth and expand third party business relationships. Prior to joining Digital Link, Palmer was vice president of engineering and general manager with DSC (1) (Digital Signal Controller) A microcontroller and DSP combined on the same chip. It adds the interrupt-driven capabilities normally associated with a microcontroller to a DSP, which typically functions as a continuous process. See microcontroller and DSP.  Communications Corp. (DSC), a manufacturer of telecommunications equipment for sales primarily to telephone companies. Palmer also held various engineering, management and business development positions with Granger Associates, which was acquired by DSC in 1984.

Headquartered in Sunnyvale, Digital Link Corp. designs, manufactures, markets and supports a broad range of high-speed digital access products for wide area networks (WANs) worldwide. The company's products provide access to private WANs based on dedicated leased lines and public WANs based on centralized switching networks that use packet switching technologies such as Frame Relay, SMDS (Switched Multimegabit Data Service) A high-speed, switched data communications service offered by the local telephone companies for interconnecting LANs in different locations.
