Dangers of leaving children unattended in and around motor vehicles.Whereas, every year many children are lift unattended in and around motor vehicles; and Whereas, there are related risks with deadly consequences related to leaving children unattended in and around motor vehicles, for even short periods of time; and Whereas, the temperature in a closed car/vehicle can climb to deadly extremes within 10-15 minutes even in mild heat; and Whereas, the body composition of children makes them more susceptible to serious injury and death when exposed to extreme temperatures; and Whereas, there is an increase in reported cases of children suffering serious injuries and death related to being left in unattended motor vehicles including heat stroke, abduction Abduction Balfour, David expecting inheritance, kidnapped by uncle. Collaborate with other national nursing organizations, Safe Kids, the Kid 'n' Motor Vehicles Organization and other appropriate organizations to request the Ad Council's endorsement and adoption of a nationwide campaign to educate the public about the dangers of leaving children unattended in and around motor vehicles. This proposal was passed with a large majority by the House of Delegates House of Delegates n. The lower house of the state legislature in Maryland, Virginia, and West Virginia. with the instructions that ANA would support this initiative "but not lead it" to help curb costs of implementing the proposal. Montana's delegates were among those who expressed concerns as to cost of implementation and whether or not this is the very best way to use our resources in times of scarce funding. It is difficult to determine which is the best expenditure or our resources in areas that are dear to our hearts as caregivers.
