) for the hiptop Development Platform. The hiptop SDK can be used by software developers to create applications for hiptop-enabled devices including the popular T-Mobile Sidekick The first popular popup program for DOS PCs, introduced by Borland in 1984.  to wireless operators, which enables them to quickly and economically deploy new applications and services over their next-generation data networks. The solution includes three key components: the hiptop Development Platform, the hiptop Service Delivery Engine and hiptop device designs.

With the hiptop SDK, software developers can use industry-standard development tools to create new applications or optimize existing applications for hiptop devices. The beta version of the SDK will be available to approved developers at developer.danger.com, beginning today. Danger will launch its formal developer program later this spring. In addition to providing support for application development, the program will include guidelines for content development, including ringtones and graphics. Beginning this summer, users of hiptop devices will be able to conveniently browse and purchase applications, ringtones and other content directly from their devices using a client-based download manager (1) A function within a larger program that manages file transfers from a remote device to the user.

.

"Providing fresh content and innovative new applications is a core element of Danger's value proposition for wireless carriers and their customers," said Andy Rubin, president and co-founder of Danger, Inc. "Broad availability of our SDK will ensure that the best and brightest developers are able to create compelling applications for hiptop devices, which will in turn increase the usage and loyalty of the hiptop user base."

The beta version of the hiptop SDK is now available for download free of charge. The http://developer.danger.com Web site also provides developers with additional information about the process of developing applications for hiptop devices. Details about Danger's formal developer program will be provided later this spring.
