The disco was organised by the Patient Advice and Liaison Service (Pals) for the Trust 's Re a chout group. The Reachout group holds regular social events and encourages people with mental health problems to get involved as a way of boosting their morale and overall wellbeing. Music was provided by DJ Paul Shaw and there were refreshments available for all who attended. Pals worker Lynn Fowley helped organise the disco and said: "The Reachout events are a great opportunity for people to get sociable. The Christmas disco was great fun and even those who didn't feel like dancing enjoyed the atmosphere and a good chat." Linda Lawrence went along to the disco and said: "I've had a really great time. I had no intention of dancing but as soon as I arrived and heard the music, I was pulling everyone else up onto the dance floor! The Christmas spirit really lifted my mood."
