A BELLY-DANCING great- grandmother is aiming to impress the judges on Britain's Got Talent Britain's Got Talent is a British television show on ITV (also on TV3 in Ireland). Presented by Ant & Dec, the talent show premiered on 9 June 2007, and was broadcast daily with a live final on 17 June 2007. .

Jan Price, 70, from Aberaman was shocked when a letter asking her to attend today's selection event arrived last week.

"I think one of the girls in my belly-dancing class must have put my name forward," said Mrs Price.

At first, the mother of five was reluctant to go to the Cardiff event in case television producers were looking to ridicule her moves.

But, as her date with destiny approaches, the Aberaman Terrace resident admitted curiosity was likely to get the better of to obtain an advantage over; to surpass; to subdue.

She said: "I've seen the show and I know they put people on there who are obviously not talented and then they make fun of them. I think they want me because of my age and because they are expecting someone with grey hair and in a bra.

"But, I'm tempted to go along because I know they will have a shock - I think I look good for my age and I can dance so they are not going to be able to laugh at me."

Mrs Price, who has belly-danced for almost six years and runs classes in Tonteg and Aberdare, said: "I know that I am never going to win but I probably could get through to the second round for being different.

"I'm a performance poet and would rather be doing that at the audition but nobody's ever been on the show doing poetry.

"I got into belly-dancing because it's something women of all ages and sizes can do - you don't have to be young and slim.

"It's gentle exercise, there's glamour involved and I'm not even the oldest in the group - there are dancers aged six to 73."
